Who doesn’t love pie?
If you don’t, stop reading now.
Pull up a chair and a big cup of coffee or tea. This blog post is very photo heavy.
This entire post is going to be devoted to my food obsession with pie(closely related to my love of spraypaint). My kitchen is filled with my love of pie. Here are just a few examples:
This is the storage area above my refrigerator. Just a few jars of pie filling. You know…just in case of emergencies.
The pie kind.
Like I need a piece of pie now!
Wow, that might be why I have a food baby…hmmmmm???
If you would like to know how to make a pie follow along with me as I make one myself. I am a visual girl so I am giving you a visual picture guide below as well as the recipe above. I am feeling like an apple pie today. How about you? Yep, me too. Who doesn’t like apple pie? Seriously? Hot, steaming, cinnamon apples with crumbly streusel topping…….I am now running quickly moving to the kitchen to assemble the ingredients. Here they are.
This one is an important ingredient! MMMMM…..Pie Filling. I kinda want to eat it right out of the jar. I will have self control and wait for the pie.
I will write a blog post this summer on how to “can” this awesome pie filling. We have a lot of apple trees so therefore we process a lot of pie filling and applesauce. It’s the dead of winter in the PNW right now, to bad apples don’t ripen in the winter. Instead, I did all of that canning late last summer when I was sweating like a hog in my kitchen over a hot stove cursing the existence of apple trees and all of their dreadful abundant fruit. But now I am glad! I need to leave myself notes not to be so crabby in the hot summer. Maybe I need air-conditioning. Maybe I just need an attitude adjustment….probably both! Where’s that SilverFox when a girl needs him?
Part One: Pie Crust
Part Two: Pie Filling
Part Three: Pie Topping
Aaaaannnnnd DONE: Homemade Apple Streusel Pie
I should have cut a piece of the pie and taken a picture of it so you could see the gloriousness (is that a word?) of the hot apples and cinnamon but I was busy putting it in my mouth and eating it. Sorry, bad Blogger move! I ate my photo prop. The SilverFox says it is good with ice cream on top but I don’t adulterate my pie with any such toppings. I am a purist when it comes to pie. Naked it is for me. I want to taste the pie in all it’s gloriousness! (there’s that word again) And if I do say so myself, it is GLORIOUS!
I do love me some PIE!
