Well, well, well. I went and did exactly what I told you not to do last week. I spray painted in this frigidly cold weather. I told you I cannot help myself.
“Hi, my name is Kimberly and I am a spray paintaholic”
“Hi, Kimberly welcome to the group”
“Are you willing to acknowledge that you have a problem with spray paint”
I don’t have nearly enough to do around here with the renovations on our rental turning it into my shop, homeschooling, running a business and general home wifery. So I decided that I needed new lamps for the living room. Yes, when you look at the before picture below you will probably think that I am daft for wanting new lamps because there is nothing wrong with the brown/bronze finish on the lamps that I have. You would be correct. I just have been staring at them for 15 years and am wanting a change. I like the antique brass trend that I am seeing in the design magazines and online and am wanting to try that finish out. I bought some lamps for clients that use that finish and really like it.
Off to Target, Marshalls, and Ross I went. I am on a budget you know. It has been years and years since I bought lamps for myself. I love to spend other people’s money but not so much my own. I found nothing, bupkis, nada, zilch, zip.
It was like “Goldie Locks and the three bears”
Too big, too short, wrong color, wrong shade, etc.
I like to stay on budget (my husband’s least favorite word in the universe) so I decided to use my favorite tool in my arsenal at hand….. you guessed it, spray paint. I already had perfectly good working lamps. I just needed a little change. Besides, if I hated them I was already going to buy new ones anyway. All I would be out was a few cans of spray paint. You all know I have plenty of those babies laying around here in every color imaginable…..just in case!
Before Picture of the Accent Lamp-Check out the sandwich bag and rubberband trick….It works great!!
You will not believe what happened! Not only do I totally love my lamps, I got a floor lamp, two table lamps, and two accents lamps painted out of one can of spray paint. Yes, that’s right. That was a count of ONE can. Talk about value.
I Would Smooch that Stuff Right on the Mouth If I Could!! Ok that just got Weird…..Sorry!
